A Cautionary Tale of Global Warming

Adam Porter, a programmer for Virtual Vision Network, is just a regular guy. He does his job and never wonders what it all really means; he just knows it’s fun. There’s Cartoon Vision for families, Chapel Vision for meditation, and Ultramodern and Shangrila for variety, but his personal favorite, the one he relies on at home, is Frontier Vision, where he and his virtual dog Bo defend the homestead from bands of desperados. For Adam, this virtual world is far preferable to the drab, humdrum existence that awaits him off-line.

But when a head injury puts Adam’s receiver on the fritz and reveals a post-apocalyptic world he has never seen before, he is forced to question what is real and what is an illusion. Before long, Network cops are dogging his every move and he’s on the run for his life.

While struggling to understand what is happening, Adam stumbles upon the Actual Reality Underground where he joins a band of eco-guerrillas. Their goal: to concoct a plan to blow up the virtual vision transmitter in order to force the population back to the actual reality they don’t even know exists.

By turns exhilarating, frightening, humbling, and bewildering, Reality Crash is also a reminder of just how precious reality, and the real friends who occupy it, truly is.
