A Guide to Internet Film Renting

By: Alex Harding

In the past 12 months or so, traditional DVD rental brands like Block buster have merged the ordinary DVD rental model on the web, which operates the same way as it used to normally really, the difference is you pick the DVDs you want to watch from your computer, also it’s a lot cheaper!
When you've received the DVD (by post) and watched it, you post it back in a pre paid envelope. The major change I noticed between online and traditional DVD rental is that online is more of a bargain, and a lot more giving in the number of films you can order and the amount of time you are aloud rent them. Even though the brands vary a lot in their offers, the costs of them are all brilliant.
Just thik how much a regular DVD rental company save by not using physical resources such as a the shop, staff, and shelving - so encouraging on the net renting is in their best interest, and making the offers to persuade us to rent it online is the future.
There is a lot of brands to choose from and nearly all take the recurring payment pricing as standard. So for a set fee every month you can rent a certain amount of DVD’s at a time, and once you post them back you get the next films. LoveFilm in the UK have of late launched a pay as you go service where you’re not tied into any contract.
Blockbuster, Tesco, Amazon and LoveFilm are a few of the businesses getting in on this new venture, fighting with great bargains. All brands have a great selection and a few offer more than film rental, with video game renting too, which works on the same principle.
My advice, is to note down the amount of films you hire a month now traditionally, and if it’s less than once a month you probably wont want to be tied into any monthly film renting contract. If it’s around one or two every month think about a low monthly contract and so forth.
