It has long been evident to policymakers that oil is not in infinite supply and that we need real solutions for that and for the damage being done to our environment. In fact, wind and solar power have gained significant footholds in some parts of the world. There are other energy solutions which have been carried forward in varying degrees and gone through testing and been implemented to various degrees in different parts of the world. In view of the reality of how fast that these solutions need to be advanced into widespread useage, though, we are lagging way behind. We are simply moving way too slowly if we hope to avoid a global train wreck in the not too distant future. According to the U.S. Department of Energy, renewable fuels, including wind, solar, and hydropower (along with "traditional" fuels like firewood and dung), accounted for only 7.4% of global energy in 2004; biofuels added another 0.3% but biofuel in the form of ethanol derived from crops is causing millions of deaths due to food shortages this year alone. So how much of the energy production worldwide was from fossil fuel? About 17/20ths! And nuclear power another 6%. The scariest news of all is that the Dept of Energy projects that two decades from now that percentage will be the same. As for the effect on greenhouse gasses emissions, the impact of this is devastating and that is regardless of your view of the veracity of global warming: The increase in dependence upon coal as highly indicated by trends in India, China and in the rhetoric of George W Bush means that global emissions of carbon dioxide are projected to rise by 59% over the next quarter-century. The meaning of this is simple. If these figures hold, there is no hope of averting the worst effects of climate change. When it comes to global energy supplies, the implications are nearly as dire. We are well poised to have a worst case scenario perfect storm because of our lack of preparation and lack of forward progress on alternative energy solutions. In all of my research I have found only one really hopeful glimmer of light in all of this dismal depressing darkness lol. And that is from a grassroots, internet based phenomenon called Water4Gas WATER4GAS is sharing information at a low price which consumers can use in their garage or wherever to build a small assembly which infuses hydrogen into the gas/air mixture that their car runs on. Using Water4Gas you can minimumly expect to lower your gasoline usage by 30-50% or even more. With W4G gasoline is made usable so you can lower your gasoline usage. It also helps to lower emissions significantly.Happy members number about 99%! So how about you?
