These splints are removed in a week’s time. You must look for a board-certified cosmetic surgeon, and make sure they have enough experience and reliable repute to be able to perform safe surgical procedures.
There is an associated procedure called Septoplasty which is a cosmetic procedure used to correct the shape of the septum. The nasal septum, which is the separation between the nostrils, can be deformed due to a number of reasons including defects or deformities. The reason these terms are associated is that Septoplasty may be performed during a rhinoplasty procedure. This combined process is referred to septorhinoplasty.
Even though rhinoplasty is generally a safe aesthetic surgery, the risk of adverse reaction to the anesthesia, excessive bleeding and infection is still there. It is also possible that one surgery sitting will not cure your problem and you may be in need of more additional surgery. There have been cases of people losing their sense of smell but usually that is not permanent. Rhinoplasty also happens to have the highest rate of people revising the surgery to go back to their original shape.
Many patients who undergo this cosmetic surgery also complain of consistent runny noses after surgery. Usually that stops in about nine months, but occasionally it can go beyond that too. Usually if you are going for a nose surgery for purely aesthetic reasons, you will be advised for some other related surgeries, like chin surgery. This will basically work together to give your face a balanced look that most people desire. In such a case, the chin procedure can be done along with the rhinoplasty.
