Marriage counseling may be required to make a relationship involving alcoholism work. While you can't force your partner to quit drinking, you can try to ensure that you two share a comfortable lifestyle together. Trying to force change will only cause problems. Forcing your partner to attend alcoholics anonymous or another group may breed resentment, which change change love into hatred and lead to divorce.
