With the Epson Stylus Pro 9880, Epson has introduced its new “three-level” black ink technology that, like most of their innovations, sets benchmarks in excellence. This new feature is unique for simultaneously utilizing black, light black and light-light black ink during the printing process. This process significantly improves the printer’s gray balance while doing away with color casts. This is outstandingnews for artists who have issues over their photographs not copying well to canvas due to experiences with color casting they may have had with other products. In addition to these features, the Epson 9880 delivers outstanding midtones and highlights for a more delicate tonal range. Again, these are wonderful specs for artists who demand impeccable results for their work. Artists can also count on the Epson 9880 to completely do away with the metamerism and bronzing of basic pigment chemistry. Another area of note artists: This printer intensifies the ICC profiling process for ColorSync and ICM workflows, which is an enormous gain to photographers and artists across the industry With this new black ink feature, the Epson 9880 also features two user-exchangeable black ink modes. Printers can utilize two different black ink modes – photo black or matte black. This innovative system improves the black ink density for a multitude of media types, impressively improvingthe final print quality. The normal photo black ink mode can be implemented for any media type with incredible results. However, for several Breathing Color media such as Elegance Velvet, Optica One and Brilliance Chromata, using the optional Matte Black ink mode instead will certainly optimize your black optical density for an outstanding print quality.
