Few novels have met the success enjoyed by Dan Brown’s the Da Vinci Code. With a fascinating premise and a presentation of a mystery – which isn’t that novel to start with – in an exciting new light, readers have been immersed with the literary work. The film, starring Tom Hanks in the lead role of Robert Langdon, equally met great victory considering the status of the book it was rooted on. But the greater part of Dan Brown’s patrons are of the opinion that Angels & Demons, the book that emerged prior to the Da Vinci Code which also presented Robert Langdon as the lead character, is a far superior labor in contrast to the more memorable follow-up. While the Da Vinci Code discussed an ages-old secret protected by the Catholic Church, that is, Mary Magdalene being the spouse of Jesus Christ and the Holy Grail being a reference to the sacred lineage of God’s only begotten son, Angels & Demons contends with something more secular – how the Vatican operates. Angels & Demons, in fact, is one of just a handful of legendary works that gives us a peek at the choice of a new Pope. This is what the book is all about, amidst the setting of a conspiracy to seize the Vatican hostage with threats of unleashing an anti-matter tool that can instantly eliminate a quarter of the world. It’s a battle versus time, with Robert Langdon leading the pack by deciphering problems and deciphering symbols in an attempt to find out the location of the anti-matter bomb. It’s an exciting story, indeed. And all indications lead to the truth that it’s going to be a thrilling film. Early on, censors are already proclaiming that Angels & Demons is more tailor-made for the big screen compared to its heir, the Da Vinci Code. The last, after all, is chatter, its action runs are more static, and its core point is the intellectual sorting out of its obscurities. Angels & Demons, then again, is a pursuit account – one which will adapt well as an action mystery flick. Apart from Tom Hanks, Ayelet Zurer acts in the film, portraying the role of Vittoria Vetra, a CERN scientist and a logical and loving match for Robert Langdon. Ewan Macgregor portrays the persona of Camerlengo Carlo Ventresca, who is a fundamental character in the tale.
