If a person walking through the forest runs across a poisonous snake or any other wild animal, his/her normal move would be to panic and to get away from the beast as quickly as possible. If the identical feelings of panic and horror come along with no valid reasons and when they occur in a very safe environment (while walking on the street or watching a football game at the local stadium) you do not have to be an expert to realize that something is not right with your health. Experiencing more than one of such episodes in a short period of time (a few weeks or months) can be an indication that the person suffers from panic disorder. At the very early stages the sufferers become extremely frightened and confused. The non psychological signs of panic disorder which could include palpitations, nausea, shortness of breath, dizziness, excessive sweating, jelly legs etc. make the sufferer to think that something completely different is going on inside their bodies. Patients usually ask for help at the wrong places. They visit a whole range of different medical practitioners undergoing numerous checks and tests because they are sure that the problem is with their heart, lungs, blood pressure and so on. The mental health practitioner is usually last on their list to visit. While going through the panic attack sufferers might believe that they have some kind of the uncurable illness, they are going to die on the spot, going insane or to lose their mind. Panic attack may occur every time when the sufferers find themselves in a particular environment or it can just hit without a clear cause regardless of the circumstances. A big number of individuals suffering from panic disorder also develop agoraphobia (fright of open or jammed surroundings from which in a case of panic attack would be difficult to run away or to seek and receive help.) Panic attacks can even strike during the sleep. Hottish weather also has an affect on panic disorder because sufferers experience more panic attacks during the warm summer months. The main reasons for this are that hot weather accelerates heart beats, stimulates dizziness and dehydration. Also, during these months people are more likely to spend their time outdoors so there is a much higher prospect of running into unacquainted and unpleasant situations and surroundings. Although the real causes of panic disorder are unknown, some studies have shown that some kinds of people are more likely to suffer of this condition than the rest. This group includes people who are shy by nature and whose tendency is to be worried and over concerned about every aspect of their lives. They constantly analize their own abilities and are never certain whether they are good enough to complete their goals and responsibilities. The signs of their insecurity and fears are often noticeable from their early years (blushing, sweaty palms, palpitations, not feeling comfortable in front of older, unknown people or when confronted by authorities.) Those kids spend a lot of time daydreaming and imagining things and have no agonistic spirit and behavior. When they sleep they may also experience dreadful dreams and have accidents with urinating in bed. Their perception of other individuals is kind of naive because they cannot estimate the hidden intentions of mean people. Even after repetitive and numerous disappointments they do not change their behavior. It is essential to point out that panic disorder is very common medical condition in our society. Although individuals who show some of the above mentioned symptoms in their childhood have a higher chance of being affected by panic disorder in their maturity, not everyone will. On the contrary, some very confident persons who are easygoing and have no obvious obstacles in their lives can be knocked down by this disorder with no warnings or a logical explanation.
