If you have a product to sell or are planning on building an affiliate business then you really have to understand about building landing pages. Landing pages are basically singles pages, used to promote products, they have no navigation at all and tend to only have links going to the product they are promoting or selling. Done right they are a very effective tool, but you have on average no more than 10 seconds to get the customers attention before they move on. The 5 main points to look at when creating a good selling landing page and keep the customer beyond the bail out point. Building landing pages is all about conversions, because the reality is you have to drive a lot of traffic to your product to get sales and in turn get paid, hurray. But before you start go have a look at some landing pages, get a feel for them, work out what looks professional, a site that looks knocked up by a beginner will sell nothing and just lead to you being disheartened. 1/ Headlines: Do not waste your best piece of web real estate on the name of your company or some flashy piece of flash. You have to have a title that grabs their attention, let them know what the rest of the site is about and make them want to read about it. Many surveys say that 70 to 80% of sales can happen here, so remember give the customer a link to your product. 2/ First Paragraph: Make it strong and punchy; get them excited about the product. There is an old saying in sales that is very true" Sell the sizzle not the sausage". This is very important here but keep teasing them with it all the way through the landing page. Basically it means, sell the benefits to the customer, they will buy on benefits, what's in it for them, not what's in it for you. 3/ Benefits: This is a great place for a list of bullet points, it makes for a nice clean easy to read summation of your product and what's in it for them. Remember put yourself in the place of a customer, what would you want to read there that would excite you into reading more and outright buying the product. 4/ Pictures: You must place plenty of images into the site, they excite attention and make the site look professional. Make sure you have images that show the actual product, but also people enjoying the benefits you have been selling through the site. Try and get each picture to have a strong caption which you have linked to the product your selling, it's a great way to sign them up. 5/ Links: Make sure you have plenty of links to allow your customers to buy, they are in buying mood and do not want to have to search, it only causes them to bail. Your job is to make it as easy as possible, add links ideally after every natural break and also to pictures. I like to make sure the written links have the product keyword, good for site promotion, as well as the words click here. Many potential buyers are not as computer or internet savvy as you think. I would rather be thought of as over obvious than lose customers, the choice is yours. These basic 5 points of building a landing page for affiliate marketing can obviously expanded upon. But as a basic starting point and checklist they will make you money and save you a lot of time and missed opportunities.
