Buying Discontinued Video Game Systems

By: Irvine DelMonte

Old video game systems will bring back memories from your childhood like no other thing. You probably spent hours upon hours on systems like the Atari 2600, Nintendo Nes or Commodore 64. Although nowadays it may be a little bit more difficult to track these systems, there are still shops selling your favorite console from your childhood.

To purchase one you can begin to look for them at your local stores. Most of the stores will probably only sell the latest and greatest though. Go through the phone book and ask each store if they carry what you are looking for. If you are still unsuccessful, don't despair.

Once again the Internet comes to the rescue. Searching online is indeed the safest bet if you are looking for discontinued items. You will likely find online dozens of websites specialized in old video game systems. A simple google search for the product of your choice will bring many, many results.

Sites that come to mind are the big players like Gamestop.com, and Ebay.com. Ebay in particular is a treasure trove for any and all kind of items imaginable. If it can be sold, you can probably find it on Ebay.
Ebay carries all the old video game systems like the Atari 2600 and Colecovision. You can bid on the item you want and hopefully you will win the auction. If you don't like the auction format, you will find a lot of sellers proposing a buy it now option. Quick and easy.

There are numerous other stores outside of Ebay too. Google a specific model and you will find entire sites dedicated to a specific game system from the past. These systems are still popular and a lot of people go back to them and rediscover them. On top of that, you will see that there is a big community around each model with dedicated forums, fan sites, etc. so you can find like-minded people.

Your favorite game system from the past may be a few keystrokes or phone calls away. Whichever way you choose to go, we hope you'll have as much fun now than you did back then!
