Can Marriage make you Fat?

By: J. Farmer

In order for our wedding pictures to look perfect, we took pains of going through a crash diet a month before the day itself. Which would have been unwise, had it not been for that picture perfect shot of you and your spouse looking splendid in wedding clothes. But alas, marriage does take its toll on our slim bodies. But fear not, we do not have to look back with grief or teary eyes.

The most common reason why women gain weight is because of pregnancy. The need to look beautiful is no longer a concern as taking care of the children and keeping house has become more important. We took an old saying to heart and cooked to gratify ourselves and keep our husbands content. We eat leftovers as not to waste food and end up eating as much as our spouses. We forgo healthy foods in order to keep our families happy and well fed. Needless to say, women have a tendency to forget about themselves in the process of taking care of their families.

More men tend to get fat after marriage. This could be due to women who would like to make their husbands unattractive to the opposite sex. This is not to say that women causes a man to plump up, but that it could be one of the reasons why you carry a huge tire around your waist.

Now that you know the causes, you can start living a healthier lifestyle - for your sake and for your loved ones. But remember that crash diets and depriving yourself of nutrition is never a good idea. You can try squeezing in some time to go to the gym and work out a couple hours a week. A home gym would be a good idea, but it could be costly and the equipment will take up a lot of space in your home. The best option is to consult your physician on how you can jump start your weight loss program.

Most will prescribe a hunger suppressant depending on how obese or fat you are. Diet pills are not harmful to the body if taken properly and is more commonly prescribed to obese patients. Diet Pills are recommended for short-term use only. However, you should be advised that taking appetite suppressants will not help you shed pounds. Thus a meal plan and workout program accompanies the drug. Many diet pills have minor side effects; but these should be well tolerated. Give yourself time to adjust as the drug works on your body. If you experience adverse side effects which are uncommon amongst users, you should consult your doctor.
