Chanel Perfume

By: Shauna Moline

Chanel is a name so well known in the perfume business that nearly everyone of any consequence will know about it and will recognize its distinctive logo, and there is no doubt that Chanel perfume is the very last name in quality as well as style making it amongst the most highly regarded of all perfumes.

And, as every good thing must be copied, unfortunately there are also many imitations that are doing the rounds, especially in the third world countries where trademarks are not as rigidly protected as in the West.

I'm sure some of you are wondering, "What's all the fuss about?" Well it all goes back to the founder of Chanel, Coco Chanel. She had a vision of a world where women's perfumes were uplifting and uninhibited and she didn't stop until she reached that vision. She probably didn't realize how big her perfumes were going to get, but her plan was always to make a "high-society" perfume, and she succeeded.

Flash forward to today, where Hollywood celebrities and famous people all over the world are wearing the Chanel perfume. They choose it because it represents status, it represents fame, it represents a person of high-society, just like Coco envisioned.

Such free advertising and also the effect of celebrities endorsing Chanel perfume has made millions of women want to own a bottle of such perfume for them, thus contributing to the success of this brand even more.

Of course it helps to have a hundred years to tweak your marketing plan, and that's an area Chanel is not weak in. They have kept an edge on the marketing campaign, such as hiring Nicole Kidman to be the face of Chanel and producing an advertising film starring the actress. They are on top of their game and their profit margin reflects their great successes.

Perhaps the most recognized perfume in the Chanel line, Chanel No. 5 was actually developed by Ernest Beaux. To make this enticing fragrance concoction, he stirred in rose, jasmine, and neroli, along with ylang-ylang. While the exact blend is not known by anyone outside the company, everyone of us knows it is definitely a good blend. It was once believed that a bottle of Chanel No. 5 sold every thirty seconds, somewhere throughout the world. Believe it or don't, but I'll tell you that Chanel is definitely not hurting financially.

Price is generally around $80 for a 1.7 oz bottle of Chanel No. 5, but you can get a 2.5 oz bottle for the same price if you order from a discount perfume site. Chanel is, and will continue to be, a symbol of someone who can afford to wear it. Those who dab it on do so to let the world know they have made it...they have arrived.
