Craps. Which bet to choose: Pass/Don’t Pass, Come/Don’t Come bets

Craps is one of the oldest casino games, which is now played at every casino.
Of course the game is a little different now, but still the point is the same.
Then this game was available only for kings and their chivalry. Now everybody
can play this game at a real or even online casino. As I said the game has
changed, but not much. If it hadn’t been for this change the game would be
much easier. The difference is based on the number of bets. The game appeared at
the beginning of the 12th century and then there were four bets available for
players. The original bets are Pass/Don’t Pass Line Bets, Come/Don’t Come
Bets. And do you know how many bets are in the game now? I managed to find
fifteen so-called ‘additional’ bets, can you imagine this? And I believe
that these ‘new’ bets only make the game more difficult and complicated for
understanding. To tell you the truth I still don’t understand some bets and
don’t see any difference between others. So it is quite difficult to
understand and to remember all bets available at the craps table.
The game of craps is a table game, the main element of which is a pair of
dice. The objective of the game is to predict the dice combination. The player
has to make a bet on this or that combination and then it will be compared with
the final dice combination. The number of bets is incredible and it is very
difficult to make a choice. Except original four bets there is a Field, Big 6,
Big 8, Lose, Hardway and other bets. You will hardly find any other game with
such a number of bets. Moreover all these bets appeared only in the 18th century
when more and more people began to visit casinos and play the game of Craps and
it is not for nothing. If you think that these ‘new’ bets were accepted by
casinos to increase the players’ chances of winning you are mistaken here. All
these bets increase the house advantage and decrease yours. Of course you can
try these bets and maybe you will win, but still the original bets can make much
more money.
So if you have a choice, and I guess you always do, make Pass/Don’t Pass,
Come/Don’t Come bets and if you have enough money or credits try to make
maximum odds bets as in most cases it is an odds bet that bring players good
money.
Pass Line Bet is one of the most popular bet with players. With Pass Line you
win with total of 7 or 11 rolled. If the total of 2,3,12 is rolled the bet is
lost. If any other total is rolled it is called a point and here you can make an
odds bet. The opposite thing with Don’t Pass Line Bet. You win if the total of
3 or 12 is rolled . the bet is lost if 7 or 11 is rolled. In the case of a point
the odds bets become also available. The main difference between pass and come
bets is that you can make a pass bet before the dice are rolled and you can make
a come bet at any moment of the game. Come bet wins if 7 or 11 is rolled and
loses if 2,3,12 is rolled. Don’t Come bet wins if 3 or 12 is rolled and loses
if 7 or 11 is rolled. In other cases there is a point as with Pass/Don’t Pass
bets and odds bets are available.
So, the main point of my article is to let you understand that if you have a
choice make Pass/Don’t Pass, Come/Don’t Come and maximum odds bets. There is
not much difference between them, it is up to you to choose, though according to
statistics with Pass/Don’t Pass bets the house advantage is lower and as a
result you can win more.
