Don't Live With The Ignorance of Surviving Colon Cancer

By: JohnJames

You might want to consider some cancers as easy to treat. Well, colorectal cancer is not one of those. With a tumor so deep in your bowels, there simply isn’t any way to reach it without some invasive process, or something. But early detection can go a long way to help. Isn’t that why it’s always recommended to constantly go for checkup to ensure you catch any cancer in good time – before it spreads dangerously?

Colon cancer kills almost as readily and as much as breast cancer does in the United States. Strangely, it is nowhere near as popular because it does not happen as often to many folks. However, it is something you might want to be on the lookout for.

Very rarely can you escape chemotherapy when you have to deal with colon cancer. Painfull as this is, it comes only after you have been operated upon to remove the tumor itself. At least, the chief source of your problems has to be gotten rid of first, which is a very necessary first step to surviving the condition.

Once you have been diagnosed with colorectal cancer, the first part is the colonoscopy; not very pleasant, but it's very necessary to appropriately diagnose your condition. The second part is the surgery which is the next reasonable step towards healing you.

Of the myriad of cancer cases all over the world, lung cancer is probably the most well known, followed by breast cancer. Colon cancer comes in third, being also the second in reputation as a cause for cancer deaths.

Colon cancer kills, as most cancers do, however, not all cases are fatal. Incidentally, only about ten to twenty diagnosed cases ever get as far as a fatality. For the most part, all the others are treated and cured.

Apparently, cancer is not as rampant in Canada as it is in the United States, or perhaps it is just a situation with population. The US has up to 100,000 people being infected by colon cancer every year. Canada has only twenty thousand such cases.

The Canadian Cancer Society oversees cancer situations and records each year in Canada. In the United States, the American Cancer Society does the same. Canada records each year, about 20,000 new cases of colorectal cancer, while the US records a hundred thousand.
