Finding the Right Dog Bed Sheets

By: Colin

Bed sheets are for dog beds, in the same fashion as Oprah and CSI are for American prime time TV viewing.

Dog bed sheets serve not only as decorative elements but also as important accessories to any dog bed you have in mind. This relationship works in the same fashion as coffee and creamer or bread and butter.

Bed sheets are rectangular cotton or linen cloth fashioned into large, thin sheets. Having a seam in the center, they basically cover dog beds. It is normally located between the bed and your dog. The first bed sheets were white. However, you could say that today's designs, materials, and colors of bed sheets have come a long way.

The larger bed sheets can be tucked under the mattress to make it look neat and stable. Bed sheets complete any bedding set there is. The material's quality is determined through the thread count. Simply translated, it is the total number of threads per square inch. As the rule of thumb goes, the higher the thread count, the softer the bed sheet.

Sateen, linen, cotton, or other synthetic materials are the usual composition of bed sheets. The commonly used patterns are dots, stripes, checkered, or printed. They can either be fitted or flat.

If you're planning to purchase any set of these sheets, this simple criteria may be of great help to you:

1. It should be machine washable.

See if you can wash the bed sheet with a machine. This is for easy cleaning. Washing by hand is not really a bad idea. But, why suffer when you can do it the easy way?

2. It should be versatile and eye-catching.

These days, there are a whole lot of bed sheet designs and colors to choose from. Thus, don't forget to pick those with nice prints. They should be colorful at best. They should complement your dog's personality. If your dog is energetic and playful, pick the sheets with bright floral prints. If your canine friend is an adventurous animal, pick the ones with bold, red prints on them. Though your dog will never really appreciate it, others probably will.

3. It should be affordable and durable.

Don't buy too expensive bed sheets. A set can cost you as little as $19. However, don't compromise the fabric quality. Choose middle-priced sheets made of durable materials. This way, quality and economy are both achieved.
