Get Shaded But Not Obstructed - With Offset Umbrellas Or Outdoor Patio Umbrellas

By: Kenny F Leichester

In order to make the fullest use of shade you can get, choose the offset umbrellas. It is also known as the cantilever umbrella. It simply means that the pole is off center and at the side instead. Best of all, you can tilt it to an angle that effectively shades its occupants, without affecting the base of the umbrella which is heavy.

The rotating feature can still be used with its rotating arm regardless of the tilt and lock feature. These two features just make the umbrella more better than it is.

The offset umbrella is by far one of the most flexible umbrella for the patio. Their special feature will allow you to place them almost anywhere. They can be beside the pool, spa or even Jacuzzi.

Dut to its very nature of flexibility, you can be sure that an offset umbrella easily adds character to your outdoor area. Be aware however, that an offset umbrella costs much more than the regular ones (those with poles in the middle).

Since these umbrellas are situated at the side, you need to be extra aware of its stability with a few things in mind.

First of all, refrain from using the large sized ones especially in windy conditions. Offset umbrellas with a 10 feet diameter and above is considered large.

Then, to support its stability, a heavy base of at least 100 pounds is recommended. That is quite the minimum requirement, if possible, get an even heavier one.

The less expensive choice for a heavy base is filling it with sand or concrete. This is an option you can consider.

You already know that there is a variety of sizes to choose from, but rest assured that outdoor patio umbrellas can generally house four people.

There are simple basic push up types, pulley and rope system and of course electric auto lifting type of operating for these umbrellas. However, the more complicated they are, they will be able to give you more privacy. They are usually ones with complicated tent shapes. The simpler ones will have the usual roof like shapes.

You have no less choice when it comes to fabric, from polyester to vinyl types. But if you want it to last longer, maintain with an application of chemicals that act as resistance to the elements.

The poles can be made from any material from wood to anodized aluminum. The height of the pole is therefore up to you. On the other hand, remember that the stability of the pole depends on its height. Tall ones are less stable even if it means more shade.

To install the outdoor umbrella will not be too difficult. Complicated style and intricate lightings will require specialist. The lights also come in a diversity of patterns. It will depend on the mood of the owner as to what type of ambiance they would like to create in the patio.

There are a few reasons why these once so cheap patio umbrellas have gone quite expensive. The ones that were available in the olden days are quite simple in nature. Now we would like to have protective elements for our umbrella. Therefore, protective shielding agents are placed on the fabrics. We also have umbrellas that are remote controlled operated and those with tilt feature. These are the features that can make life much easier for you. Therefore, paying extra for them is quite reasonable.

The cost of these umbrellas is understandably not that cheap. However, think of the benefits it will give to you, your family and guests. Just because the weather is not inviting, that does not mean you have to stay in side your home for a few weeks just to protect yourself. Let the umbrellas do their part for you. You need not sacrifice comfort and style just to be out in the fresh air. It will be worth every cent you paid.
