Get a Good Vibe! - Gary Burton With all of the leading vibraphone players of today the top of the list has to include Gary Burton. With his virtuosic playing techniques and ease around the instrument, Burton has moved into the upper echelon of jazz greats. Burton made his first recording with Hank Garland and Chet Atkins at the age of 17. Later he gained great fame working with Stan Getz before he began to record under his own name. Borrowing the rhythmic and aspect of rock music while still keeping the improvisational and harmonic complexity of jazz music, Burton soon gained praise from both sides of the rock and jazz spectrum. Besides touring and recording Burton today teaches improvisation and percussion at the Berklee College of Music in Boston.
