As free radicals enter human bodies, they link up with other molecules. Fortunately antioxidants are available to halt this unwelcome process, but the human body cannot produce enough antioxidants, and has to depend on plants to help out. In such a situation, it is easy to see why it is imperative to carefully plan our diet, and ensure that we include lots of antioxidant rich fruit and vegetables in our meals. It's frightening, to consider that people should have to be constantly told how to keep in peak condition? It seems that although many people are prepared to do something to protect their cars from oxidation, and rusting, they are less keen to protect themselves, from free radical attack. For sure the car will soon deteriorate if rusting is allowed to get worse, but our bodies will become "rusty" if free radicals are not held at bay. It's good to take care of your car, but make your number one priority looking after yourself. A great place to begin is with the 5 - 9 fruit and vegetables every day, to benefit from the antioxidants they include. Sadly, the risk from free radicals is not just from food, but also from environmental pollutants, including exhaust emissions, tobacco smoke, and others. It is impossible to steer clear of them all, although a good way to guard yourself, is by an applied knowledge of antioxidants. There are delicious fruits and vegetables, in abundance, to help your cause, but you have to make sure that you are getting enough, by aiming for the top of the recommended intake, of 9 helpings every day. It is good to know that antioxidants are easily available to restore the balance, and mop up any excess of free radicals. It is as easy as ABC. Just think of Apples, Berries, and Cabbage, because plenty of antioxidants are contained inside the 5 - 9 fruit and vegetables, that you are constantly being advised to take in your food. Look upon 5 fruits and vegetables as a minimum, because apart from anything else, you should get better antioxidant protection against free radicals from 6 - 9 portions than just 5! Just as most fruits and vegetables have an abundance of antioxidants, there are other foods that don't measure up. Although oxidation is a normal bodily process that is required to produce energy, if an excess of free radicals are created, a health problem could occur eventually. Recent studies suggest that antioxidants may assist considerably in thwarting age related medical conditions. It must be in your best interests to care for yourself properly, and an antioxidant rich diet, as part of a natural way of living, is a good place to start. Surely you will try to do as much as you can to guard yourself from the possible, but not unavoidable, negative effects of the aging process.
