Home or Away?

By: Robert Thomson

When it comes to beauty treatment, is it better to use beauty products at home or to go to a clinic? The answer will depend on several things including: the budget you have to work with, your level of experience in using beauty products and whether or not it is convenient for you to reach a clinic.

Budget is one of the most important factors when deciding whether or not to treat at home or go to a clinic. Usually at-home beauty products are hundreds, sometimes even thousands of dollars cheaper than clinical procedures. Consider Prevage MD. This is an anti-wrinkle treatment that costs 127.25 pounds. Such a price is nothing if you compare it to VAVELTA, a non-surgical clinical treatment that can cost over 1,688 pounds. And, even though VAVELTA offers amazing results, it does not do anything that Prevage can not do, as both work at a cellular level to eliminate wrinkles. Prevage uses antioxidants to strengthen collagen while VAVELTA infuses fibroblasts into skin. Regardless, the results are the same, even if you have to take Prevage for a longer period of time.

However, it should be realised that sometimes it is better to spend more if you are not used to working with beauty products. For instance, if you are not very good at hair removal, whether it is shaving or waxing, you will probably be better off getting laser hair removal. With laser hair removal the actual follicle is affected, which stops the hair from growing back. Yes, you will have to pay a lot for the procedure, but in the scheme of things you will actually save money because you will not have to keep buying waxes, razors and shaving cream for your unwanted body hair.

This takes us to another factor in deciding the worth of a beauty clinic; convenience. With this factor, there is two ways to look at the issue. Going back to the last hair removal example, going to a clinic could actually be more convenient because it gets rid of the problem straight away. With home treatments, you have to continually re-apply the creams, lights or solutions until the issue is resolved.

On the other hand, however, are the scheduling issues associated with beauty clinics. Even if the clinics treatments are affordable, there is the practical concern of whether or not you can slot an appointment into your busy schedule. The situation is worsened if there is not a clinic in your neck of the woods. In these cases clients may have to take time off from work, which is very inconvenient if they are working for a strict boss. And, sometimes one may have to take off several days at a time, since clinics may require a series of follow-up appointments.

To conclude, there are advantages and disadvantages when it comes to using at-home beauty treatments and beauty clinics. So, it wouldn not really be fair to consider one inherently better than the other. Ultimately, your personal preferences and budget will help you decide which option is best for your own beauty concerns.
