How To Do Hair - Simple French Braid

By: Jessica T

Although it looks really complicated, it's actually quite easy to learn how to do hair in a French braid. The first step is to get all the tangles out of your hair by brushing it. Then you slick on some mousse or a holding gel. You'll want that gel to help keep your hair in place as you work with it.

Next, you'll take a section of hair at the front where the bangs are (or would be). That's the whole section from temple to temple (right above your ear line).

Separate the section into three even pieces. Start by braiding the right section over the middle section. Remember to hold the braid tight or some hair will slip out of your hands.

Now, you pull the left section over the middle section. You should keep a spritz bottle full of water at hand, just in case your hair begins to dry out. It's easier to handle when it's wet rather than dry.

Next, you will use a comb to take more hair from the head on the left side. This strip of hair should begin about an inch or so down from the temple. You'll be adding this to the left section of your braid.

Repeat this step for the right side of your head; after that, bring the right section of hair over the middle one. After that, braid the left section over the middle section.

Keep on braiding and adding new sections of hair until you finally reach the bottom of your head. To finish it all off, you'll braid the loose sections of hair just like a normal braid.

Use a ribbon or pony tail holder to tie the end of your hair. If you practice, learning how to do hair in a French braid is easy. Even if you don't get it right the first time you attempt it, it will soon be like second nature to you.
