How to Make Your Eyes Look Bigger

We all know how important the eyes are so it is really important to make the most of them. The more you can make your eyes stand out and draw people in the better. There are lots of things you can do to make your eyes look bigger and the aim of this article is to give you some make up tips and advice.

In order to make your eyes look bigger you will need to have eyeliner, mascara and eye shadow in both light and dark shades. Make sure you get everything together before you start, then you will know there is nothing missing.

The first thing to start with is the eyeliner. This should be applied to the outer edges of the eyelid only. Start around the middle of the eyelid and draw a line out to the outer corner of the eye. You can make it get slightly thicker on the outer edge, particularly on the top lid. It is important to not to leave the line as a thick harsh line but to smudge it in. The best way to do this is to blend the eyeliner with a cotton bud so that you get a soft smoky line.

You can now work on applying eye shadow to open up your eyes. Start with the lighter eye shadow and apply this to the inner side of the top eyelid. Start at the inner corner and bring your light eye shadow out to slightly beyond the middle of the eyelid. You can now take your darker colour and apply it from the outer corner of the eyelid until you reach the lighter colour. The last thing you want is a harsh line between to two colours so take your finger and blend the two colours together in the middle.

You also need to raise the eye up and you can either use your light colour eye shadow to do this or use a specific highlighter. I would recommend a cream based highlighter that shimmers in the light, it works perfectly. This should be applied in the area between the crease in your eyelid and the eyebrow. You might also want to add a tiny bit in the inner corner of the eye just to open them up a bit more.

The next thing to do is to think about making your eyelashes as wide as possible. There are different ways in which you can do this. If you are happy wearing false eyelashes then we would recommend them as they will really help to widen the eyes. However if you are not comfortable with them then you should curl your eyelashes carefully. Apply the curlers to your eyelashes a squeeze them closed, but not too tight and then hold them in place for 30 seconds for each eye.

When applying your mascara, the bolder the better. So if you can get away with it use black mascara as this will add extra impact to your look and make your eyes much wider.

The above steps might seem quite involved but once you have practised it a few times you will find it is actually quite easy. I find it takes me no time at all to apply my make up in this way now and the affect is well worth the effort.
