Improving your Relationships with Gay Magazines

By: Kelly Renaul

Gay magazines are some of the most important materials that a couple can take advantage of to better their sex lives and enhance their relationships. There are a lot of benefits that can come from taking the time to look through these magazines, either by partners together or by people by themselves during their alone time.

Gay magazines are full of much more than pictures of Gays having sex, which is what many people might first think of. In fact, the majority of gay magazines are not the erotic or pornographic material at all. They are more commonly carefully pulled together and written by professionals who go out and get their stories from real life subjects and real life people. There are plenty of features about politics, religion, cultural and social issues, relationship issues, and advice. Articles about anything and everything can be found in these gay magazines, and a large majority of them are finding their way into more mainstream crowds of readers who enjoy and appreciate the subject matter completely and find it all refreshing, honest, and long overdue.

Gay magazines provide an outlet and an insight into the world of homosexuality that people find are important to their daily life and even to their overall well being. Despite the long standing negative social stereotypes about gays, the younger generation overwhelmingly more than their parents and other generations before them accept the sexual orientation of gays as not a big deal.

Gay magazines, TV shows with gay leading actors and actresses, gay political figures, models, and movie stars, have all helped to chip away at the wall that once surrounded homosexuality, even to the point where the law banning gays in the military repeatedly has been seriously shaken and broken down over the years. Although the ban is technically still in place, there are times where the armed forces are willing to overlook it and the Dont ask, dont tell policy, enacted in 1993, states that the military will no longer ask recruits about their sexual orientation. As long as the recruits do not disclose that they are homosexual, they are able to serve in the military. Although this is a small advance in the battle for equal stature in society, many gays now feel that this is not the victory that it had first appeared to be, but is now a burden.

Gay magazines have provided a wealth of information, advice, suggestions, and therapy to the millions of loyal readers all over the world that openly express their sexual orientation. Providing information that is geared towards the gay community to cater to their needs is what gay magazines are all about.
