Slasher flicks are always a guilt-ridden pleasure for many flick arers. Yes, they won’t obtain censors’ votes. They won’t get A+ scores from the movie press. They won’t even get C ratings from home-based online experts. Hacker films will forever be scream-filled tales with meaningless plots. But through the years, these slasher films have carved – pardon the pun – a niche of their own. A big part of the success of these slasher flicks can be attributed to the Friday the 13th program and its 15 manifestations. Friday the 13th is a chain of movies that starred a hockey mask-wearing psycho killer named Jason Voorhees. So well-liked is this series that it has become a staple of pop society, being recommended in numerous news outlets for a good part of the newly concluded century. In 2009, a rerun of the series will be unleashed for the film going public to experience. Once again, fans of slasher flicks and persons who are new to the genre will get to face the father of slasher-themed flicks, this time recreated for the recent generation. Right, Jason Voorhees is about to make a return! This time, he won’t be fighting another movie monster icon. He won’t be in space, freed from years of cryogenic deam. He won’t be warding off the dare of a female telepath. Instead, we will witness, or re-witness, the birth of a serial predator. We will unearth the account that produced a mess such as Jason Voorhees. We will witness him frighten the unfortunate vacationers enjoying the warm waters of Camp Crystal Lake. It’s 2009 and it’s time for a new Friday the 13th! The remake is done by Marcus Nispel, who also directed the restore of the Texas Chainsaw Massacre. The flick will present Derek Mears as Jason Voorhees, with Jared Padalecki and Amanda Righetti playing the man and woman mains, correspondingly. The flick will be released on a Friday the 13th, specifically February 13, 2009.
