Keep Yourself Alive & Out of Danger With the Correct Use of Pepper Spray

Carrying pepper spray is easy. Using it on an attacker can often be not so easy, especially for ladies who don't have the killer manner that guys seem to have.

Catch Him Off-Guard!

The surest way to use your pepper spray is to shoot the guy before he has a chance to react to you. Your goal should be to fire quickly to disable your attacker and then run away immediately.

Keep Your Eyes Open!

Don´t shut your eyes when shooting your pepper unit. You may have to compensate your aim slightly. You should shoot the spray for 2 to 3 seconds, nether a short squirt nor a fire-hose drenching. After shooting your pepper spray, the assailant will normally stop immediately, unable to see and virtually helpless due to violent coughing and irritation. Once the assailant is disabled, stop the spray. Back away and run away as rapidly as you can.

Practice Your Response

Think about how you would act if attacked. Consider carrying the pepper spray in the same place whenever practical. You can then react quicker to use the pepper spray for the best effect. Don't wait until you are in a threatening situation to have a plan of action to a threat. Be sure you can draw your pepper spray quickly. Good locations would include a pants pocket, a purse or a belt loop.

Remember Your Goal:

You want to get away unharmed. Don't be concered about anything else! Leave arresting the guy to the cops. Just spray and get out of there!
