Health publications are filled with advice about the newest studies, and they all allege to know how to improve your health. Getting the most effective antioxidants can undoubtedly provide you with the protection you require to control free radicals. Antioxidants have been proven to slow down oxidation in the body due to free radicals, or to put it more succinctly, antioxidants shield you from free radical damage. Make no mistake about it that antioxidants guard you from many of the most severe diseases, such as heart disease, cancer, strokes, arthritis, and many more. Some people even believe that an ample amount of antioxidants in their diets can slowdown the aging process! You might understandably wonder just where these dreadful free radicals come from, but to be honest they might not be as bad as you think. Free radicals can also assist our bodies to resist germs, so it is a surplus of free radicals that creates health disorders, and not a balanced amount. A high fat diet can considerably increase free radical output, and it is widely agreed that saturated fat causes free radical problems. But, the situation is complicated as not all fats are crammed with free radicals. A healthy place to begin could be to seek to shun saturated fats, that include animal meat, and all fried foods. There are other fats, including fish oils, which recent studies suggest are actually helpful, but trans fats, commonly used in commercial cakes, biscuits etc. are best avoided. It is good to know that antioxidants are easily available to restore the balance, and deal with any overload of free radicals. It is as easy as ABC. Just think of Apricots, Berries, and Cabbage, because plenty of antioxidants are found within the 5 - 9 fruit and vegetables, that you are constantly being advised to take in your food. Think of 5 fruits and vegetables as a minimum, because all things being equal, you should get better antioxidant protection against free radicals from 6 - 9 portions than 5! Just as many fruits and vegetables have an abundance of antioxidants, there are other foods that don't measure up. Amongst the top antioxidant foods obtainable are wild American blueberries. So if you know where you can purchase any, or better still, where to pick your own, don't hesitate to stock up. Don't be too concerned if blueberries are not available as the majority of other fruit and vegetables have a high proportion of antioxidants. Many health authorities suggest that between 5 - 9 portions of fruit and vegetables per day is what you should strive to achieve. Make it your personal plan to make a move towards eight or nine portions, and you should then be well down the road to a natural health, free radical busting life. Be sure to look into which fruits and vegetables are the richest in antioxidants, and you could then find that they are nothing less than a new eating experience.
