Lawn Mover Cuts Out The Perfect Garden!

By: Glen Crawford

In most parts of the US the lawn mover makes a regular Saturday morning appearance. On a nice sunny morning you will be able to hear the hum of the lawn mowers as they keep up with the never ending task of clipping the lawn to perfection. A great number of people absolutely love this pursuit, and as many again think it is a necessary chore, one that has to be attended to as quickly as possible so that more interesting activities can be enjoyed.

It should come as no surprise that the owners of the beautiful gardens we see on our daily travels actually look forward to and enjoy the time spent working with their lawn mover. Not only are they increasing the value of their home, but they are spending their time in a most satisfying way. Motivation is as simple as being rewarded by the sight of their beautifully lush lawns, trimmed to perfection.

Purchasing a lawn mover for the first time can be confusing, particularly if this is your first experience of them. Some of us were lucky to have earned our pocket money on a Saturday morning mowing lawns so at least we got to know them quite well during these years. The downside is that a good lawn mover is going to set you back a pretty penny, but you get what you pay for, and the upside is that it should last for many years with very little maintenance.

You need to consider several things before you purchase your lawn mover. The size of your lawns is one thing, as once you get over 1/2 an acre a ride-on lawn mower is going to be the best choice. Your budget of course will also play an important role in your choice. Fitness and wellness are also aspects to be considered. Many people will choose a self-propelled push lawn mover if they are retired or who have less than perfect health.

Many of us really do like spending time on our lawns, but most of us prefer it to be easy. Choosing a lawn mover that has plenty of power, is reliable and cuts well means that our task is finished in record time, leaving more time for our family and friends. This is very important for those of us that enjoy a busy lifestyle with not much free time on weekends.

The lawn mover now residing in suburban garden sheds is a vastly improved machine of the past. They are no longer quite as noisy, they are easy to start and a joy to use. Their temperamental side has at last well and truly been calmed.

The lawn mover is not new. It first made its debut as a reel mower back in the 1820's. Some 150 years later there are still people who prefer to use a type of reel mover to cut their small patch of grass. They are relatively quiet and can be unobtrusively used without waking the neighborhood, but they do require a little physical effort to push them. Their power source is you, which makes them high on the list of environmentally friendly lawn movers.

As we moved outdoors to enjoy such sports as tennis, cricket, lawn bowls and croquet, the lawn mover had to advance to keep up with the ever growing demand of keeping large grassed areas in perfect condition. The rotary blade lawn mover which dates back to the 1930's was a great technological break-through and is still being used extensively today for both home and professional use.
