It is amazing just how much email office staff send each day. Studies estimate that 130 million employees in this country generate almost 3 billion of these electronic messages each day. (According to D Hawkins in the US News and World Report) Email can cut costs, but it can also build a firestorm of criticism and demolish a company's standing. Setting up team building programs can cut back this problem in a business. For one thing, one of these programs can make employees more committed to the aspirations of the company. The reason for this is that members of good teams are usually friendly with each other, and this makes it hard to break ranks and dislike the team's company. Also, because team member is usually supported to work well by the others he feels positive towards his job -- and therefore towards his employer. Moreover, team building programs tend to join members together. Even inexpensive events (like giving everyone tickets to a show) will give members the opportunity to get to know each other more. The formal games teambuilding events are best known for achieve the same. And it's natural that those who are well acquainted tend to stay together. People in teams like these are almost certainly not going to email compaints about their company. Well run teambuilding programs can lift productivity and also reduce the volume of malicious anti-company emails written by employees.
