Here are some really simple ways of saving money. 1.) Set goals and follow them: The first principle of saving money is setting realistic goals. To set realistic goals, you need to know exactly why you want to save. Ask yourself this question “what am I saving for?” Do you want to buy a house? Are you saving for retirement? Answer to this question will help you figure out exactly how much you need to save. Like for instance if your goal is to save up for retirement, find out how much it would cost you to live a comfortable life for 20 to 30 years without income of any sort and work towards saving that much money. This is of-course a long time saving goal. You can set similar short time goals for yourself. 2.) Set short term goals: Short term goals help you achieve long term objectives. Once you figure out exactly how much money you need to be saving every month, try and calculate how much you should be saving every week to reach your monthly and thereby yearly targets. Setting short term goals will help you reach long term goals easily. 3.) Clear off your debts: You will never be able to save if you have debts. Just figure out how much money you spend each month on debts and you will realize how much money you can save if you were debt free. Once your money is freed from debt payment you can easily convert it into savings and that will do a great deal of good to the credit score on your 3 credit reports. 4.) Note down your expenses: The only way to cut down expenses is to keep track of them. And the best way to keep track of expenses is by noting them down. Keep a notepad and note down every small bit of money that you have spent on a daily basis. The simplest way to do this is to scribble things down roughly on a notepad throughout the course of the day and then finally sitting down in the evenings and noting them down clearly onto a notepad to find total expenses. Compare your daily expenses at the end of every month and find out what you spent more and how much you could have saved. Make sure that you implement this for the next month. 5.) Stop using credit cards: It is kind of impossible given the current scenario to even think about giving up on credit cards, but there is a way. First and foremost don’t have more than one card. Keep the best and cut down the rest. Carry this card along, but never use it unless there is no other option left. Debit card is always a better option than credit. Every time you use your credit card, take a note and ensure that you pay the bill off in full every month. Do not take a loan over your credit card payments by paying it on an installment basis. 6.) Open an interest-bearing savings account: Not many people realize this but it becomes easier to track your savings and also get better interest rates if you open a separate savings account. You can also consider high interest options like CDs or money-market accounts for longer saving goals. 7.) Shop Consciously: Often times people shop for things that they don’t even need. This situation arises because of unconscious shopping habits. To avoid this, just make a list of things that you need to buy before you enter the store and stick to it. Do not shop for anything else apart from what you have on your list. Going to the shop with a brain based list will get you to shop for things that you don’t even need. 8.) Compare buy products: The internet is a great way to shop. You can compare shop for so many products on the internet at the ease of your home. This will help you save a lot of money and even get products from quality stores at the same time. 9.) Learn to ride a bike: Road bikes are a great way to commute. So if you are not already using one, invest in one today. Bikes will help you go nearby places with ease and it is real fun riding one. Bikes can help you save on a lot of fuel money and keep you healthy at the same time Apart from these there are many other simple ways by which you can save money. But these are some good ways to get started. Once you get started you will be amazed to how you come up with great new ideas on your own!
