Picking a Jacket for Spring

The spring is approaching rapidly and if you are like me you will be really glad to put away the winter coat and wear something lighter. The question is how do you decide what to choose to wear in those unpredictable spring months? The aim of this article is to give you some advice and tips on selecting the best spring jacket for you.

Once winter is over we are all glad to get rid of the heavy dark coats that most of us wear and we can go for a lighter brighter version for the spring. When you are picking your winter jacket go for a light, bright colour. Something like a pastel red, green or blue would be perfect. Make sure the colour goes with your skin tone and is in your usual pallet of colours. This will immediately help to raise your mood along with the improved weather.

Remember that in the spring the weather can be unpredictable. You can have days that are really sunny and warm however they are often interspersed with showers. For this reason the jacket you pick should be reasonably thin but also give you some protection from the rain. A light beige rain mac is perfect for this time of year. However if you are like me you might find beige a bit boring. In fact I actually have a red rain mac that keeps me lovely and protected from the rain. However it is light enough so that I am not too hot in the when the sun comes out.

If you are the type of person that doesn’t like to carry and umbrella then consider having a jacket with a hood. A detachable hood can be a good thing to go for so that you can take it off when you know the weather is going to be good.

When you are looking at the type you are best to go for something that is short of knee-length at the longest. Leave the long coats for the cold months of the winter that will help you to keep warm. In the spring you do not need to be kept warm and so a shorter jacket is the best thing to go for.

Try and go for a jacket with a fitted silhouette style. This will help to contrast with the other styles that are common in spring. You will also find that it is an attractive sexy look that you can achieve with this type of jacket.

Don’t rush out and buy any old jacket. Take your time visit a number of shops and try a few different jackets on. Remember that it is important that you feel comfortable in your jacket and want to wear it every day. If you are having problems finding something consider going for a denim jacket. Most people find these comfortable to wear and they go with almost anything. However if you are going to go for a denim jacket then remember you may want to carry and umbrella as your protection from the rain might not be as great as it could be.

Once you have selected you spring coat enjoy it. You will probably be wearing it quite a lot so remember to take care of it and keep it as clean as possible.
