Pinhole eyeglasses are the best alternatives to the ordinary conventional eyeglasses. Pinhole eyeglasses help improve our vision without using prescription eyeglasses. They have a series of pinhole-sized perforations filling a thin sheet of plastic in place of each lens. It acts like a pinhole camera and allows only a narrow beam of light to enter into the eyes. This reduces the circle of confusion and increases the vision. As the pinhole glasses reduce the brightness of vision, it is not advisable to use them while driving. The pinhole eyeglasses are usually recommended for patients who have myopia, hyperopia, astigmatism and other eye defect symptoms. It is best to use the pinhole glasses while watching TV, while reading books and while using computers. The principle behind these pinhole glasses is that, they allow only the direct and coherent rays to enter into the eyes. They do not allow indirect rays to enter into the eyes which causes blurred vision. It does not employ any lens objects and hence we can save ourselves from opthalmologic phenomenon called Acquired Myopia. Some kind of glasses are made of laser technology which is highly effective. Depending on the type of refractive disorder, the eyes which have defects focus light rays before or after the retina. This is the basic reason for a 'blur circle' on the retina itself. But on using the pinhole glasses, the pinholes on the surface of the plastic lenses effectively stop down the aperture of the eye's pupil. Hence only a narrow beam of light pass through the glasses to the eye lens with a greater depth of field. This narrow beam casts a smaller blur circle on the retina, improving the eye vision. Few advantages of the pinhole glasses are:
