Providing shelter for your pets within your concrete sectional building

Let’s face it, you wouldn’t relish an evening cooped up in a concrete building? But our faithful companion be it dog, cat or rabbit does require protection from harsh weather conditions so let’s make things as comfortable as possible.

Timber structures are ideal for our furry friend, but a dedicated house is expensive and takes up valuable garden space. Timber is naturally heat retentive (unlike concrete) but a few inexpensive measures can be taken to provide adequate levels of comfort.

A wooden pallet will get your pet off the cold concrete floor, and heated electric dog beds are popular. Concrete Buildings with their ribbed internal construction lend themselves to easily becoming fully lined with polystyrene insulated plasterboard or ply. Hint: On the market today are an abundance of adhesive compounds designs specifically for bonding concrete to wood. The rebates in the concrete panels can be further improved with the addition of insulation.

A suspended roof can you added with relative ease as the concrete panels have a ledge to rest your roof and can be further supported from the trusses which are rarely more than 6ft apart.

You may also wish to consider adding drainage channel to your concrete floor to easily hose-down and to clean up any excrement.
