The players in question are – Kyle Orton and Drew Brees. Drew Brees has been known as a guy who has been instrumental in shaping up the play of Kyle as Kyle has been making rapid strides on the scene. In fact, ask Kyle and he would make no bones about the fact that whenever he had to work on some moves or see the way how a ball has to be played; he would like to look at the video of Brees. Whatever Brees did, was aped perfectly by Kyle! In fact, people who saw Kyle playing would say that minus the Chicago Bears jersey, they were seeing Brees play.

Such has been the influence of Brees and his game style on Kyle Orton. Indeed, they seem to be good pals, but more importantly, they are fierce competitors in their own right. Importantly, the competitive spirit does have a fair sense of camaraderie running in their veins. Obviously, the story dates back to the help provided by Drew Brees to Kyle Orton in his freshman playing days. Brees, those days was a passing leader of repute in Purdue. In fact, it might be recalled that Brees had clocked a whopping 11.800 yards or some less in passing, a truly commendable achievement for a player on any stage of NFL.

"If you really wish to make it big with your yards, then you should come to Purdue" – said Brees to Kyle, at a time when he had almost made up his mind to make a move to Colorado. This advice was taken with both hands by Orton, and dutifully he seemed to have followed all what Brees had to tell him. He moved to Purdue as Brees moved to Colorado. In the first some games that he played, all Orton had to do was to work on the moves and the style of play he had learnt from Brees.

Implementing the moves and style replica was tough, because Brees was a class act. But Kyle had some talent too. He did play quite a few games for the Purdue, and in those few games, his attractive game play did enough to turn quite a few heads. And why, even Brees was surprised with the progress of Orton! Little did he know then, that his protégé would climb up the ranks so fast that his credentials would be threatened some day by him. That definitely seems to be the case as both of them face off in the game at Soldier Field, Chicago.

It surely seems to be an away game for Orton, but take one thing for sure – He is going to give it 100%. Brees knows that and that’s why he is not offering too much of an advice to Orton as yet. Maybe after the game is over, he may have something to say.
