Johnson scored a game-high 20 points and managed to get 10 rebounds; as a result the 14th-ranked Purdue Boilermakers defeated Wisconsin by the score 65-52.

Down 7-6 early, Purdue Boilermakers took a 9-0 run, as some Green free throws put the Boilermakers up 15-7 midway through the opening first half. Purdue continued to dominate the first half, taking a 25-11 lead over the Wisconsin. Then Wisconsin cut into its deficit at the end of the period and managed to trail only 32-26 at halftime of the game. Johnson hit a free throw 6 1/2 minutes into the second half for a 41-32 Purdue advantage, and Green's three made it a 49-34 game with 11:37 left to play. Another basket from Johnson's side with seven more minutes to go put Purdue Boilermakers up, 57-41, and the Boilermakers were sure to lead to the victory from there.
