Recalimed Wood Benefits

By: napaolm

Woods that are recovered and reclaimed from certain buildings and structures to be used to construct another structure are called reclaimed woods. Reclaimed woods are often acquired from uninhabited wooden structures like barns, houses, etc. The crucial effort in preserving the depleting natural resources like trees have prompted the use of reclaimed woods. Using reclaimed woods also benefits everyone who is involved commercially, industrially, ecologically and residentially.

Commercial and Industrial benefits of reclaimed woods and timber is often based on profits for the people who sell them. They also benefit by paying lesser environmental taxes and earn another profit for deconstruction services. Since they are distributing and selling used and old woods, they are getting lesser restrictions and guidelines compared to cutting trees and operating timber mills. People who are also in the reclaimed wood business can take advantage of wood selling by deconstructing uninhabited wooden structures. It also gives new life to woods that are on their way to landfills or be used as firewoods. Also, by deconstructing abandoned wooden buildings, woods that are reclaimed from it are recycled instead of just becoming fire hazards.

Reclaimed woods benefit the residential sector by providing people with cheaper priced woods as well as giving them the quality and durability the genuine reclaimed woods possess. Some reclaimed woods become more expensive than fresh cut timbers because of shipping and freight costs and the deconstructing costs. Some steps taken to restore reclaimed woods such as removing nails and smoothing them may also contribute to raising their prices a little bit.

The last but perhaps the most important sector that benefits with reclaimed woods demands is the environmental sector. The number of trees from national parks, forests and woodlands could grow by recycling and re-using reclaimed wood products. The plenty the trees, the better the quality of air there'll be. Incindents like erosions of mountains as well as flooding can also be reduced dramatically with an adequate amount of trees. Because of the declining number of trees, the quality of the air we breathe have greatly been reduced coupled by an increasing rate in carbon emissions.

When buying reclaimed woods for the purpose of building new houses, they should know how to recognize the genuine from the fake. During the 1970's, reclaimed woods were not given as much notice as they are today. With the declining number of trees from forests and woodlands, governments in the U.S. and around the world have passed environmental laws in an effort to reduce logging. As a result, some operators of timber mills had to think of other ways on how to acquire woods without having to pay any penalties, and some of the steps taken have pointed to the growth of the reclaimed woods industry.

Sadly, there are still others in the reclaimed woods industry who practice deceptive trade habits. To counter them, a particular council that regulates and imposes rules and regulations was formed. This particular organization issues requirements for manufacturers, distributors and sellers when it comes to selling reclaimed woods to ensure the consumers are getting what they are paying for. This organization is known as the Reclaimed Wood Council or RWC. If you are looking for a genuine reclaimed wood, be sure to look for a RWC stamp "certified" on each plank or bundled planks. The Reclaimed Wood Council issues several guidelines to reclaimed wood manufacturers. These guidelines involve the manufacturers to comply and agree to any unannounced/surprised on-site inspections and audits, show them the necessary documents of where they acquired their reclaimed woods, and most importantly-the reclaimed woods did not recently come from standing trees.
