Rotties are great k9s that are usually misunderstood by people. This is because too many Rottweiler owners do not properly train their dogs.

All dogs must be fully trained and Rotties are no exception. It's actually true that if you are a rottweiler owner you absolutely must take training your pet very seriously.

It's hard to find a good professional dog trainer because most use outdated training methods that don't work that well. I think that in most cases for a variety of reasons that it's better to do DIY dog training by learning from a Rottweiler dog training book.

Dogs can only learn to behave in places where they are taught. This is why a professional Rottweiler trainer can be such a unsatisfactory answer to your problems. A professional dog trainer usually charges by the hour and will only be training your dog in one place. For example if your Rottweiler learns to behave at an obedience school then he may learn to have really good behavior there but really bad behavior everywhere else. If you become your own Rottweiler's trainer then your dog can learn to behave well positively everywhere.

What's true for place goes even more so for people. It's often true that a professional Rottweiler trainer may be able to make your Rottweiler behave well for the trainer but as soon as the Rottweiler is back in your hands or around your family he is trouble again. Rotties can be excellent dogs if trained the way they are supposed to be. The public's idea about Rottweilers is because of too many awful Rottweiler owners! Train your pure bred Rottie well and you will help improve image of all Rotties and all Rottweiler breed owners. An untrained Rottweiler is an aggressive and dangerous dog.
