Born to parents Surendra and Sunanda Shetty on February 2, 1979, Shamita Shetty soon grew up to become a hot and sexy Indian actress. One can also recognize her as the younger sibling of established Bollywood babe actress Shilpa Shetty. She was born in a traditional close-knit family that hails from the Bunt community of Mangalore.

She finished her schooling from St Anthony's Girls High School in Chembur, Mumbai. Shamita Shetty also entered Sydenham College for graduation but dropped out from 11th standard only, to pursue a career in Fashion Designing.

Her main inspiration for joining the showbiz was her sister’s ever blooming career in Bollywood. She soon got lucky too and bagged Yashraj’s Mohabattein opposite Uday Chopra. The film was based on the love stories of six youths who find their guide in the form of Shah Rukh Khan and an opposition in the form of headmaster Amitabh Bachchan. The movie hit the box office and Shamita Shetty became successful in proving her mettle as a newcomer.

She later bagged item numbers Sharara Sharara in Mere Yaar Ki Shaadi Hai (2001), Chori Pe Chori in Saathiya (2002). Her solo hit came with Zeher (2005), and that was a great success for her as an actress. Her other movies include, Cash, Fareb where she starred along with her sister Shilpa and song appearance in movies Hey Baby and Harri Puttar.
