On St. Patrick s Day, everyone gets to be Irish. Many cities throw parades and people don something green, feast on corned beef, and drink beer. What could be a more fun way to celebrate this Irish holiday than to wear St. Patrick s Day costumes?
For men
St. Patrick’s Day costumes feature as much of a variety for men as they do for women, which is unusual for a holiday. For instance leprechaun costumes are always a popular choice for men. There is a wide variety of St. Patrick’s Day costumes in this style, but they generally feature a green vest, hat, bowtie, knee-length trousers, and white, knee-high stockings. St. Patrick’s Day costume accessories like buckled shoes, pointy ears, and beard are a nice additional touch.
Another idea for a St. Patrick’s Day costume is a traditional Irish costume. For the man that is not afraid of the kilt, a more traditional Irish dress costume can be a great addition to the St. Patrick’s Day theme.
For women
Like many women s costumes, St. Patrick’s Day costumes for women tend to lean towards the sexy side. And on a holiday where the beer is flowing freely this can definitely be used to your advantage!
Leprechauns are a common theme for women s St. Patrick s Day costumes. Like the men s costumes, these costumes often feature a green vest or suit jacket, top hat, and bow tie. However, they tend to swap out the knickers for a short skirt that will show off your legs to your advantage. Finish the outfit off with a pair of thigh high stockings in black, white or green, for a truly sexy costume.
A more traditional St. Patrick s Day costume would be an Irish lass costume. While still in the green theme, this costume often features a longer skirt and peasant blouse with Irish detailing. It can be a great costume to wear for St. Patrick s Day parades and dances as well as for any St. Patrick s Day costume parties that you might be attending.
While not exactly a St. Patrick s Day costume, another popular costume for women that could be used for St. Patrick’s Day is the beer maiden costume. Many adults will indulge in a green beer or two on this Irish holiday, so if you are the one in charge of doling out the drinks this can be a great option.
For children
Adults are not the only ones that enjoy dressing up in costumes for St. Patrick s Day. Children can enjoy St. Patrick s Day costumes as well, and these pint-sized versions of leprechauns are twice as adorable as their adult counterparts. Like the adult costumes, children and toddler costumes often feature a vest or dress in green, bow tie, and matching hat. You can even find your own pot of gold to use as a costume accessory.
