Breastfeeding is the natural way to feed your child, and is the only way to provide your baby with the most amount of nutrients. Formulas are similar to human breast milk, but don't provide an adequate substitute. Sometimes the modern hospital system makes it difficult for mothers to begin the breastfeeding process, creating a frustrating situation for both mom and baby. The first thing to remember is to sit in a comfortable position, preferably with your legs crossed in a manner that makes your lap comfortable for the baby. Then hold the baby in your arms to get the baby to latch on to the breast properly. You will need to guide the baby to help him latch on, especially if you have a lower supply of milk. If the baby is having trouble latching on properly, the baby will not be satisfied. This will make the whole process longer causing frustration to both mother and child. As a mother, follow your own intuition and if you feel uncomfortable, try to find out how to solve the problem. If you try to get a proper latch within the first few days after the birth, it will be much easier for you in the long run. Do this before you even leave the hospital and make sure your baby's getting enough milk. If, however, you do leave the hospital without this knowledge, make sure you do some research and find out how to have a baby latch on properly. Right after birth, you should try to get the baby to latch onto the breast. As a mother, you need to take care of your diet for the sake of your baby. Therefore, there should be no excuse for not preparing delicious and healthy meals on a regular basis. If you are hard-pressed for time, just try to keep every meal simple but healthy. Eat a lot of vegetables and fruit and make sure you have a well rounded meal. Proper nutrition is very important for breastfeeding, because your baby gets nourishment from what you eat. If you don't eat healthy food, how can you produce healthy breast milk for your baby? There is no substitute for breastfeeding. Breast milk provides the essential nutrients your baby needs to grow and develop. In addition, it bonds mother and child and even helps the newborn baby to fend off diseases and build a healthy and strong immune system. It is heartening to see that mothers and doctors emphasize the benefits of breastfeeding, though some years back the trend had reversed. Better late than never. Breastfeeding is the natural way to feed your newborn baby after giving birth. It is nature's way of providing your child with much needed nutrients. In addition, it allows mother and child to bond as the baby gets emotional nourishment from the warmth of the breast.
