Sylk is Not Just a Lube: Sylk for Computers and for Your Ears

Many people already know that Sylk is a personal lube used for that, but not many people know that Sylk is also music to your ears and also has a relationship with the world of computers as well. Sylk lubricant is the only personal lube that is made from kiwi fruit vine extract from New Zealand. It is popular to use for many purposes because it is water based, hypo allergenic and safe for sensitive skin, and there is no odd flavor or fragrance to it.

So we have the lube, we have the singer, and now we have computer files. SYLK stands for Symbolic Link, and it is a Microsoft file format that is used usually to exchange data between spreadsheets. These types of files use a .slk suffix, and from within a spreadsheet application, the data can be exported in the Symbolic Link format. The format is composed of only ANSI characters that are displayable, and it can be created and processed by other applications in addition to spreadsheets, such as databases.

Microsoft does not actually publish a specification for SYLK, but variations of the format are supported by OpenOffice.org, Gnumeric, Microsoft Works, Excel, and Multiplan. If a SYLK file is created by one of the applications that support Unicode, like Microsoft Excel programs do, the file is encoded in the current systems ANSI code page and not in Unicode. If the characters that were able to be displayed in Unicode have no codepoint in another systems code page, they are then displayed as question marks in the SYLK file, which many people who frequently use many programs have seen.
