For the past twenty years, breast thermography has been an integral part of the way physicians monitor breast health. Unfortunately, there is still a large number of women who have never been to a thermography center and who are not familiar with this technique and its important role in monitoring breast health. No matter where you look for thermography, Los Angeles or New York, you'll find a number of doctors who offer this service. Many start off interested because it is a non-invasive procedure; there is no radiation, no compression, no contact with the breast tissue at all, actually. Breast thermography is a form of thermal imaging, meaning that a heat-sensitive camera captures an image of the breast based on the tissue's temperature. Any changes in breast physiology will show up as hotter than the rest of the remaining tissue. Comparisons are also made between breasts to ensure that any abnormality is caught. As the experts at a thermography center will doubtlessly explain to you, thermography can catch a change in breast tissue years before any other technology or examination can. The ability to identify changes - which could mean cancer, an infection, a fibrous growth, etc. - years before any other type of examination, caused issues with breast thermography's acceptance in some circles. When young women tested positive for changes in physiology based on their thermograph but this could not be confirmed by mammography or ultrasound, people assumed that they were looking at a false positive. The truth of the matter, however, is that the positive given by the thermograph was in fact accurate. Had doctors followed up years later, they would have likely found that the conditions had progressed to a point that was measurable by other tests. So, what use is to visit a center for thermography, Los Angeles or elsewhere, to determine that there is in fact something going on in your physiology that can't otherwise be confirmed or diagnosed? Well, to begin with, your chances of catching a cancer early are greatly increased, and thus, surviving with most of your body intact is more likely. Secondly, you may actually catch changes in physiology early enough that lifestyle changes can actually prevent diseases or infections from progressing at all. If something looks abnormal in your thermograph, it can be monitored regularly. Thermography is a supplementary diagnostic technique that should be used along side mammography, doctor- and self- examination.
