What kind of wedding do you want? Traditional? Non-traditional? How much customization and personalization do you want in your reception and ceremony. Think back to the receptions you attended, how many of them blend together? Did they all seem the same? Did they lack the Wow effect? Your DJ can do so many things to REALLY personalize your reception for you. Watch your guests walk away saying, Wow! That was the best reception I ever attended! Your DJ should spend anywhere from 15-30 hours in the planning process. Make sure they ask lots of questions. There are never too many too ask: How did you meet? Describe the proposal? Do you have a story to tell? Tell me about your favorite memories growing up? Tell me about your families? Siblings? How did you fall in love? Is there any one that you invited that cannot make it to the event? Asking questions, and really getting to know you and your fiance, will help your DJ create a personalized approach to your event. Your event shouldn't be McWeddings. Here are a few great ways your DJ can personalize your reception: Surprise Messages Perhaps there is someone you invited that cannot attend the reception, wouldn't it be great to have them record a voice message to be played back over a bed of music at the reception, maybe during dinner, or before/after the toasts? Ways to Recognize Mom/Dad at the Reception Do you have a special relationship with mom or dad? Maybe you would like to show a photo montage slide show of the two of you as you were growing up, while you dance with mom or dad. Another idea, instead of just calling dad out to the dance floor for his dance with you, why not have your DJ share your dad's favorite memory of the two of you, as the song begins. Creative Bridal Party Introductions Instead of the DJ introducing the bridal party to one song, why not have them use a separate song for each couple to walk into the room to, which describes that individual couple. Another idea is to have the DJ say a few sentences about each couple in the bridal party. Custom Recordings Are you looking for a way to thank mom and/or dad for raising you as a child? You could record a special message to them and then have the DJ remix it into the parents dance, as you are dancing with them. You could create a custom recording for your first dance too, it could be your vows, or a special memory, or anything you desire. FUN, Bride & Groom Trivia Are you having a buffet style, or sit down dinner? Release your tables to the buffet using fun trivia about the bride and groom. The DJ will travel from table asking each table a multiple choice trivia question before heading to the buffet. This is loads of fun! Here is a planner to help you plan the questions. Playing Back The Toasts/Recording Imagine at the end of the night, your guests getting into a circle, and then while a song is playing, the toasts from the beginning of the night are played back during the song. A great way to end the event on a high note! Your toasts are always recorded digitally, if your DJ is at your event during dinner. The possibilities are endless for customizing and personalizing your event for you. It's your day, and your dreams. We have several tools available on our website to help you personalize your event. Make your guests say, "Wow, that was the best reception that have ever attended."
