When do you think of bookcases do you just think of books lined up? Perhaps, but there are many different uses for them! You could use them to display a special collection. You can use them to display pictures of loved ones. You can use them for plants -- putting the ones that need more sun on the top, in front of a window, and ones that need less sun on the other shelves. You can use them in a child's room to store toys, dolls and stuffed animals. And of course, you can use them to store and display books!

When you have children -- or even if you do not have children -- you probably have a lot of stuff. I know that even before we had children, we had more CD's and DVD's than we knew what to do with. Now that we have children, we have even more stuff than we know what to do with. Somehow all of this stuff ends up in our living room, and no one wants to sit in their living room staring at all of their stuff. We have found a solution to this problem -- our coffee tables have drawers where we can neatly organize all of our "stuff!"

A few years ago, we were redoing our living room -- we had been moving our furniture around for a while trying to find the right lay out. We ere pretty sure we had it when my husband suggested we look into coffee tables. I was not sure that with our two young kids, something like that was a good idea -- I had memories of running around my house crashing into furniture when I was a kid. However, I was pleasantly surprised to see that there are a lot of child friendly -- rounded edges, non-glass -- options out there. We were able to find one that fits well in our room and our lifestyle.

We recently renovated our first floor, which included our living room. We decided that since we had a new room, it was time for some new furniture as well. We had some idea of what we were looking for but did not have anything specific in mind. We were pleasantly surprised to see all of the different colors and styles that coffee tables come in now. Our living room opens up to our dining room so we wanted to find something that worked for both rooms, but did not match too much.
