Who would’ve considered that a movie about huge, transforming automatons rooted on an animated series from the past eightees would be one of the highest grossing films of all time? That’s exactly what transpired with Michael Bay’s 2006 blockbuster adaptation of the Transformers, featuring Optimus Prime and the heroic Autobots against Megatron and the wicked Decepticons for control of the godlike All Spark, the maker of all sentient robotic life. Their war waged throughout centuries, in the unfathomable recesses of the universe, and to our world. The flick solidified the rank of Shia LaBeouf – who portrayed Sam Witwicky – as a bankable A-list performer and catapulted Megan Fox – who portrayed Sam’s love interest – into fantastic recognition. It comes as no surprise that the follow-up to the film, Transformers 2: Revenge of the Fallen, is one of the most expected films of 2009. Scheduled for June 26, 2009 issue, Revenge of the Fallen will tell the ongoing story of the Autobots on Earth, but will at the same time be more global compared to the original. Gossips persist, still, that the Earth won’t be the sole combat zone in Transformers 2. The Fallen, in the end, refers to one of the first 13 Transformers created by the automaton god Primus who betrayed his maker by siding with Primus’ wicked brother, the planet-devouring, planet -sized, and global-transforming Unicron. This informs us that Transformers 2 won’t just be universal in range, it will be colossal too. The scenario and the personalities are covered in mystery, however revealed photos of filming reveal the following possibilities: - Construction vehicles tinted with filthy green which may point to the Constructicons – 7 Decepticon automatons that turn into construction automobiles and combine to form the mighty Devastator. - Unused concept art of an Autobot named Long Haul is rumored to have been dug up for this follow-up. - Arcee, a female Autobot who turns into a motorbike and who was supposed to be a part of the group in the first flick is sure to be incorporated in Transformers 2: Revenge of the Fallen. - Hasbro’s current Licensing Summit showed several new toys scheduled for the issuance of Transformers 2, which reveal new characters which may portray some characters in the movie. Among them are a tiger-like automaton named Ravage, which would appear to be a sign of the involvement of his master and Megatron’s faithful right hand man, Soundwave. Talking about Megatron, the new models might show that he will be specified a new alt form: a tank. At the same time, a Chevrolet Corvette will transform into the cartoon most wanted, Sideswipe.
