Visiting a Breast Thermography Center

By: xdavid

There is so much information out there about healing and preventative care that sometimes it is hard to tell what's what. For example, you may have seen articles or little blurbs talking about how coffee may prevent breast cancer, but that it also causes a decrease in breast size for those drinking over three cups a day. Now, if you read a little bit deeper you learn that this is only for people who carry a certain allele, and an even deeper study will indicate to you that those with smaller breasts are already at decreased risk for breast cancer. Of course, nowhere in the study are the straight-up effects of that much coffee mentioned. So, do you start drinking lots of coffee in hopes that you have the allele that will help you prevent breast cancer, or do you cut back for fear that you're shrinking your breasts?

Well, if you are being reasonable, you would do neither of those things. Instead, you would look for concrete ways to monitor your breast health, such as visiting a breast thermography center. Finding out about breast thermogaphy, Los Angeles residents, is pretty simple. You can do a lot of your research online, for that matter, so that by the time you visit a thermography center, you already know what questions you might have about the procedure.

One of the great things about breast thermography is that you can begin monitoring your breast health at a much earlier age than if you were to wait for mammography. Of course, doing exams yourself is always important, and doing self-exams in conjunction with other methods of monitoring is vital for catching any changes in your breast health as early as possible. Young women have softer breast tissue, which means that they cannot benefit from mammography. However, breast thermography imaging can be used on someone of any age. This also provides a baseline that can be used to compare later exams to when looking for changes in breast tissue.

Thermography is just what it sounds like- using heat sensors to create an image of the breast tissue. Any changes, infections or growths will have a higher metabolic rate than the surrounding tissue, and will easily be visible. Thermography is completely non-invasive, which makes it a very comfortable experience. Imagine, not dreading an doctor's exam! Best of all, it can catch changes in the breast tissue earlier than any other modality used alone. If changes are detected, they can be monitored, or you may be referred to another doctor for further examination.
